UCare received the mspWellness Champion 5-Star award from Hennepin County, City of Minneapolis, Minneapolis Regional chamber and their partners for our work to positively affect the health and well-being of UCare employees and communities. 2024 Minnesota ORBIE® Award, September 2024
UCare Executive Vice President/Chief Information Officer, Darin McDonald won the 2024 Minnesota ORBIE® Award for Large Enterprise, presented by the Minnesota CIO Leadership Association (MinnesotaCIO). The ORBIE Awards is the premier technology executive recognition program in the United States, recognizing those who have demonstrated excellence in technology leadership, innovation and industry engagement.

He was selected for setting new standards and driving innovation with strong values, visionary ideas and relentless dedication to health equity for underserved UCare members.

UCare won four Aster Awards in the prestigious national/international health care advertising and marketing competition. UCare's member guide and its holiday-inspired radio ad each won a Gold award. In the Silver category, UCare was recognized with two awards for its Medicare and Individual & Family plan member stories portrayed in TV ads.

UCare has been named a Star Tribune Top 200 Workplace all 15 years of the recognition program. Ranked 13th in the large employer category, UCare is one of only four companies to earn the recognition since the inception of Star Tribune Top Workplaces.

UCare won Merit recognition from the 2024 Digital Health Awards for its engaging Medicare member retention email series that empowered members to understand and maximize their coverage. The 26th annual Digital Health Awards is organized by the Health Information Resource Center (HIRC), a clearinghouse for professionals who work in consumer health fields.
Top Workplaces USA 2024, March 2024
In the national Top Workplaces USA 2024 recognition program, Energage and USA Today ranked UCare 22nd in the 1,000 – 2,499-employee category. Winners were identified based on feedback gathered through the 2023 Energage employee engagement survey. An impressive 98% of UCare employees responded to the survey, and UCare was the highest ranked Minnesota company (in any industry), as well as one of only 6 health plans on the list.
2024 Denobi Team Award, March 2024
UCare's Mobile Dental Clinic was shortlisted for the 2024 Denobi Team award at the National Mobile and Teledentistry Conference. The Denobi Awards recognize outstanding contributions in dentistry around the world. Owned by UCare and operated by the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry, the UCare Mobile Dental Clinic provides primary and preventive dental care services to UCare members across Minnesota.
ACAP Making a Difference Award, March 2024
Monica Gossett, UCare's Community Relations Senior Manager, received an honorable mention in the Association for Community Affiliated Health Plans (ACAP) Making a Difference Award program. The award recognizes employees who go far beyond the boundaries of their job description in efforts to improve their community, support underserved populations and fulfill community needs. Monica was commended for her exceptional work serving the community.

Twin Cities Business TCB 100, December 2023
UCare President and CEO, Hilary Marden-Resnik, earned a spot on the TCB 100 list for 2024 among other leading CEOs, founders, philanthropists, government officials and innovators from across Minnesota in many industries. Marden-Resnik was recognized as a trailblazing business leader for Minnesota’s community-based, members-first health plan.

In the state’s premier 2023 Star Tribune Reader’s Choice Award Program, UCare won Silver Best Insurance Company. The program recognizes the best Minnesota businesses from over 350 categories, including professional services, restaurants and cultural institutions.

UCare won six Aster Awards in the prestigious national/international health care advertising and marketing competition. UCare’s social media member story “Power of Jason” and its omnichannel, multilingual Medicaid campaign each won Gold awards. The “Simplifiers” radio ad, Figureouters billboard and “UCare Members’ Stories – the Power of People” each won a Silver award. The Bronze award went to the “High 5” radio ad.

University of Minnesota School of Public Health Alumni Award of Merit, October 2021
Julia Joseph-Di Caprio, MD, MPH, Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer, received the Alumni Award of Merit from the University of Minnesota School of Public Health for her work helping to make health a human right. She was selected by a group of her peers for her success in using her education from the School of Public Health to make a significant difference for UCare and the communities we serve.

Minnesota Public Health Association, Albert Justus Chesley Award, June 2021
Annie Halland, MPH, UCare’s County, Tribal and Public Health Manager, was selected by the Minnesota Public Health Association (MPHA) to receive the prestigious Albert Justus Chesley Award for distinguishing herself in the field of public health and making a definite contribution to the MPHA. The award is named after A.J. Chesley, MD, who had a long and distinguished career leading public health efforts at the Minnesota Department of Health.

UCare won two Gold Aster Awards in this national competition honoring excellence in health care advertising. UCare’s 2020 diverse communities outreach campaign with UNO Branding earned a Gold Award as did its creative TV advertising adaptations for COVID-19 with Preston Kelly.

Daniel Santos, UCare’s Senior Vice President and Chief Legal Officer, has been awarded In-house Counsel, Healthcare Organization, by Minnesota Lawyer. He is one of 17 honorees from around the state recognized for their contributions to the profession of in-house attorney. A special event on April 29 was held to recognize the honorees.

The 28th annual National Mature Media Awards—the largest competition of its kind—recognizes the nation’s best advertising, marketing, and educational materials and programs produced for older adults and their families in 2018. UCare’s Medicare Meetup TV ad and Medicare De-complicator Guide were honored with Bronze awards in this national competition.

UCare’s employee wellness program, RENEW, won a Silver 2019 Wellness by Design award for making employee health a priority through creative and effective wellness initiatives. Wellness by Design Awards are presented to Hennepin County employers that demonstrate accomplishments in management support, wellness infrastructure, communication and programming directed at improving employee health.

UCare’s 2018 brand campaign was recognized through several Healthcare Advertising Awards for their creativity, quality, message effectiveness, consumer appeal, graphic design and overall impact. UCare won Gold awards for its bike team outdoor ads and its new logo/brand identity. UCare’s bike quiz radio ads won Silver, and its “people powered health plan” TV ads received a Merit award.

Ghita Worcester, UCare Senior Vice President of Public Affairs and Chief Marketing Officer, was named a Woman of Courage by the Women’s Health Leadership TRUST for longstanding commitment to the community. The 2018 Courage Awards celebrate individuals who have taken a risk and demonstrated courage in navigating the unknown to help the health care industry transform its future.
NCQA Excellent Accreditation for Medicare Plan, November 2017
UCare’s UCare for Seniors Medicare plan was recognized by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) for excellent member experience and quality outcomes. It is one of the highest-rated plans in NCQA’s Health Plan Report Cards nationwide listings, and one of only two Minnesota plans awarded Excellent.

A new member guide for UCare’s EssentiaCare Medicare plan was honored with a Merit Award in the 2016 competition. “Your Guide to Good Health” helps new EssentiaCare enrollees take advantage of all the benefits of their Medicare Advantage plan.
