Frequently asked questions about the UCare Individual & Family Plans premium rebate

The rebate amount is based on your 2020 premiums. UCare used a formula set by the government to determine the final amount.

The premium rebate issued in May 2021 was based on a recalculation of the amount UCare spent on care for our members in 2018. The rebates issued in September 2021 are based on your 2020 premiums.

The amounts are different because premium rates and the amount spent on health care vary from plan to plan.

Because premiums differ among members based on age, plan type, address and smoking status.

UCare credited our members’ accounts rather than sending a check as part of our efforts to be good to the environment and reduce postage and printing costs.

Contact UCare Customer Service at the number on your member ID card to get additional information about the rebate.

The rebate accounts for prior years, while the premium is determined to cover our members’ future health care costs as health care costs continue to rise.

We recommend consulting your tax advisor.

It depends on how much health plans spend on care for their members. That is evaluated every year to determine whether a rebate is sent.

If the amount of the rebate is more than the premium due for November and following months, then a credit will be applied to these premium payments. This will continue until the full amount of the rebate has been credited.
